Dear lovely visitors of Ibiza,
We kindly ask for your understanding that, due to the high humidity and high temperatures, the A/C units should not be set below 21°C, preferably 22°C. While the cooling effect remains the same, running the units at 16°C or 17°C results in 2 to 3 times higher power consumption and poses a risk of freezing the compressor. If the compressor freezes, the main board might be destroyed. Means, the air conditioner is broken, and you can’t be cool at all!
High Humidity With Low-Temperature Settings – Higher humidity is less comfortable, and many people resort to decreasing the thermostat setting to solve it. However, doing this creates an environment where the coils are too cold, quickly freezing the moisture condensing out of the air.
According to the new Spanish law 2022, the temperature limit for all public offices, shops, and commercial spaces is 27°C.

As we are not connected to the main power grid from the mainland, our power plant has its limitations, and each house is bound by legal power restrictions. Unlike most European countries, we do not have the right to receive unlimited electricity or water supply.
We kindly request your cooperation in respecting the fact that our island relies on a single power plant and also has limited water resources. Every household is required to adhere to power consumption restrictions, and certain areas of the island have limited access to water.
Setting the temperature too low, such as 16°C, 17°C, 18°C, or 19°C, not only harms our island’s delicate ecosystem but also puts a strain on our power supply.
The following is something that might be considered obvious, but I still wanted to point it out. Every day, we observe this phenomenon: people leaving doors and windows open while the air conditioning is running. It is difficult for us to comprehend why some individuals make such thoughtless decisions. It seems as though they do not consider the consequences of their actions or ignore the importance of energy consumption and environmental impact.
A closed door and closed windows are crucial to maximize the efficiency of an air conditioning system. By maintaining the cooling efficiency, not only can energy consumption be reduced, but the environment can also be protected. It is evident that we all have a responsibility to use our resources wisely and sustainably.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they also do their bit and in the near future your children and grandchildren can enjoy this island too. Many guests can often be heard succinctly saying that they paid for it. Destroying our small island ecosystem, nobody paid for this!!
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us preserve our beautiful island.
Best regards
